O-Shot®
The O-Shot® is an in-office procedure that uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your own blood to support vaginal and clitoral tissue. Women use it for stress urinary incontinence and for changes in arousal, lubrication, comfort, and orgasm.
What the O-Shot® is
The O-Shot® uses platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, prepared from a small sample of your own blood. PRP is rich in growth factors that support healing, circulation, and tissue renewal. It was developed by Charles Runels, MD, originally to support female sexual response.
Clinicians working with PRP also began using it for stress urinary incontinence, and many women now ask about the O-Shot® for that reason alone. AgeWell is a certified O-Shot® provider.
Who it may help
- Stress urinary incontinence: leaking with coughing, sneezing, or jumping
- Lower desire or libido
- Weaker or less frequent orgasms
- Vaginal dryness or reduced lubrication
- Pain or discomfort during intercourse
PRP is also used for other women’s health concerns, including pain related to childbirth scar tissue and genital skin conditions such as lichen sclerosus.
How it works
A small amount of your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. After numbing, the PRP is placed in the upper vaginal canal and around the clitoris. The goal is to support healthier tissue, better circulation, and improved sensation.
Changes develop over the weeks after treatment and vary from person to person.
How it fits your care at AgeWell
Sexual health is health, and it is rarely about one thing. Hormones, tissue health, blood flow, stress, sleep, medications, and relationship context can all play a part. Your provider looks at the whole picture and may recommend the O-Shot® alone or alongside hormone care, Votiva FormaV, or MorpheusV. We often pair the O-Shot® with a single GAINSWave® session to support the results.
Common questions
Is the O-Shot® painful?
The area is numbed before the procedure, and nitrous oxide is available for extra comfort. Our founder, Dr. Garza, is a board-certified anesthesiologist, and comfort is built into how we do every procedure.
Who is the O-Shot® for?
Women before and after menopause who have stress urinary incontinence or changes in sexual response, comfort, or lubrication.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Often, yes. Your provider may pair it with hormone support or other in-office treatments depending on your goals.
